HealthTech Capital is a group of private investors dedicated to funding and mentoring new "HealthTech" start ups at the intersection of healthcare with the computer and mobility worlds. HealthTech Capital is creating a new ecosystem with leading edge clinical providers, venture firms and other industry players.
Anne DeGheest pioneered the HealthTech or Digital Health space as an entrepreneur, angel investor, corporate advisor and mentor capitalist. In 1986, she founded MedStars Ventures Partners, an advisory firm to large corporations and entrepreneurs. In 2010, she founded HealthTech Capital, a new ecosystem between private angel investors, venture capitalists and industry to fund and mentor new "HealthTech" companies that empower patients and decrease healthcare cost. Since 2011, she organizes and moderates the HealthTech Conference on how to build new HealthTech Companies.
The life science companies for which she has been a founder or an early advisor have created new market categories and have grown to over $6 billion in market capitalization including Pyxis, Aspect Medical, VISX, Thermage, VISICU, Masimo, Nellcor and OmniCell. She has startup operating experience as CEO and VP as well as public and private board positions. Anne was an EIR with Canaan Partners and IVP. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and a guest-lecturer on entrepreneurship and angel investing. Anne has an MBA from Harvard University and a Master in Business Engineering from University of Brussels.
Carl has over 25 years of medical device and biotechnology experience, and is passionate about helping entrepreneurs succeed in the emerging HealthTech sector. He is the Co-chair of HealthTech Capital’s screening committee and enjoys working and mentoring startup CEOs.
Prior to founding Metis Lighthouse, Carl served in leadership roles at Abbott and Guidant in general management, global marketing, new product development, and geography marketing. He has experience leading teams in Asia, Europe, Canada, and the United States. Prior to joining Guidant, Carl was a successful entrepreneur with a leading custom DNA, peptides, and genes startup. Carl holds a B.S. degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University, and an MBA from INSEAD in France.
